I do agree with the importance attached to the increasing importance of relationships. My problem is that this seems to be where leadership is failing consistently, and I would argue that this is because of limits in self awareness, which is not mentioned at all in th d’article.

Comment on Desperately Seeking Innovation by Toby Brooks https://www.ccl.org/?p=1959/#comment-50357 Thu, 24 Jan 2019 18:57:05 +0000 http://www.ccl.org/?post_type=multimedia&p=1959#comment-50357 Sustained innovation requires a culture of innovation. A company asking for a great idea on demand will likely end up wasting time sitting in a meeting room yielding little. An informal culture which questions the status quo, engaging different operational levels without fear of ridicule or being ignored, then attempting change and learning from that.

If companies want innovation then the non-management employees, those closest to the business processes, have to be listened to and trusted as part of the culture. Often it’s the most junior staff who are removed enough to see a bigger picture.

Furthermore if your staff are over-worked or demoralised expect very little.

Just my thoughts
