Shelley Thompkins is a senior faculty member in our Societal Impact group, where she serves as an expert consultant, solutions designer, and facilitator for leaders in public health. She designs and delivers custom solutions across multiple leader levels for in-person, virtual, and online leadership development.
An Associate Certified Coach recognized for leveraging best practices across diverse industries and markets, Shelley brings more than 20 years of experience with market-leading organizations and Fortune 500 corporations. As a collaborative leader, design thinker, developer, and learning experience facilitator, she helps leaders become extraordinary performers, visionaries, and collaborators, as well as critical and strategic thinkers.
She has spoken on various topics, including emotional intelligence, leadership development, growth mindset, agility, resilience and grit, team effectiveness, bridging the generational gap, change management, strategic thinking, realizing staff potential, and unlocking clinical excellence.
Shelley has a PhD in Business Management from Capella University. She has an MTS from Emory University, an MBA in Marketing & Finance from American University, and a BA in Economics, Latin & Math from Howard University.
Shelley’s research in emotional intelligence resulted in a published study, “A Leader’s Level of Emotional Intelligence and its Impact on Employee Engagement: A Case Study” published by ProQuest. She also authored the “Equipping Managers to Lead” chapter in the book Coaching Perspectives VIII.
She hosts a YouTube cooking show and has published a companion cookbook, Simple, Delicious and Healthier Recipes for People on the Go.
Shelley is a member of the American Management Association and the Association of Talent Development.
